Due to Hurricane Sandy, the state of New Jersey is allowing several alternative voting methods for displaced voters and first responders.
Vote at the nearest polling place
You can vote at the polling place nearest where you are on Election Day, instead of your home polling place. To find an accessible polling place, go to www.google.com/elections/ed/us/vote. If you can do this, we strongly recommend voting in person.
Vote by email or fax
You can cast your ballot via email or fax. The deadline to request ballots via email or fax is Tuesday, November 6 at 5 PM.
UPDATE: as of 2pm on November 6, the Election Protection staff are urging voters in Essex, Hudson, and Bergen counties in NJ to vote at their polling places because of issues with fax/email voting.
- Fill out a New Jersey ballot request form.
- You still need to sign the application. (If you do not have a scanner, we recommend getting help from FedEx Office, the UPS Store, or a local printing shop or library).
- If you are voting by email, you must include your email address on the form.
- If you are voting by fax, you must write your fax number (you can use the email address space) on the form.
- Send it to your county clerk using the fax or email information listed below.
- Your clerk will provide further instructions on where and how to return your ballot—follow them carefully. You need to email or fax your return ballot by 8pm on Friday, November 9.

[...] Vote by email in NJ. [...]
I would strongly advise people to only vote by email or fax as a last resort. Given the enormous opportunities for abuse of that system, there is a fair chance that it will become extremely difficult for counties to distinguish legitimate votes from illegitimate ones. If you want to be confident that your vote counts, avoid the vote by email/fax option.
Secondly, are you absolutely sure that you have given people the correct email addresses here? If there are errors, then again people’s legitimate votes may fail to be counted. A specific cause for doubt is that it appears that you have listed the personal email address (on hotmail) for the Essex County clerk. Note that the Essex County Clerk’s office has its own domain, essexclerk.com.
But even if you fix that, you need to make sure that you are provided fully accurate information in each case. So please add links to official sources for all of the information you list.
But again, I have to advice against using vote-by-email unless there really is no other option. It would be easy for someone to overwhelm the system by sending tens of millions of fake ballots to an address. (spammers send out that kind of mail all the time). I am not confident that any of these county offices are equipped to handle that kind of attack (among the many others that this kind of system shows). So that is why I recommend that people only use vote by email/fax if they truly have no other option.

I was curious if you ever thought of changing the page layout of your blog?
Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little
more in the way of content so people could connect with it better.
Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or two pictures.
Maybe you could space it out better?
